birthday, he proclaimed that he was going to be "two happy cakes". What a versatile phrase! We think that it is so adorable that we don't correct him, and have all happily adapted his adorableness into our own vocabulary (although it is decidedly more cute when he says it!).We decided not to have a big shindig for his birthday this year (we will save that for next year when he can actually remember it and will want to invite his friends) but we did have two little family celebrations (two happy cakes!) to mark the occasion. First we celebrated this weekend with Marty's parents with a lovely restaurant dinner and some delicious chocolate happy cake and ice cream. Lucas seemed to like the singing (and even chimed in himself) and attempting to blow out the candles (though he mostly just spit all over the cake). Marty's parents got him an adorable Thomas the Tank Engine (he LOVES choo choo trains!) tricycle that he adores and did a decent job of not throwing too many tantrums
when Elise wanted to take a turn riding on it. We had a great evening!
We celebrated his birthday again last night with my parents with a dinner menu chosen by the birthday boy (hot dogs, french fries and applesauce) and of course more happy cake! He was better at blowing out the candles this go-round - so good at it in fact, that he blew it out right after I lit it before we even started singing. My parents got him an awesome train set (like I said he LOVES trains) that he happily played with for the rest of the evening (and Marty even had to pry one of the trains out of his hand at bedtime because he wanted to sleep with it) and again did a fairly decent job of not throwing too many tantrums while Elise (and Opa) were playing the train set too.
