In between being home-bound from snowstorms and bogged down with shingles, January and February were actually pretty packed with several visits and visitors. In January, Elise and I enjoyed another "girls weekend," flying down to Raleigh to visit my friend Shoshana and her girls, Regan (4) and Lauren (2). We had another successful and incident-free plane trip and another fun weekend catching up and playing with friends. The girls all get along well and play beautifully together, and Elise is already asking when we can visit again. As long as Southwest keeps offering too-good-to-pass-up-flight-deals I think it will be soon!

President's Day Weekend marked our 4th Annual visit from college friend, Heidi, and her daughter Riley (4). It's hard to believe that Elise had just started crawling the first time they came up for a President's Day weekend visit! Time flies! Now the girls run around and play together like old friends. We always have so much fun with Heidi and Riley and we all look forward to this weekend every year.
This year, in addition to Heidi and Riley, another college pal, Meredith, and her husband Ryan also joined us for the President's Weekend festivities along with
their son Evan, who is just a few months older than Lucas. Meredith and Ryan have been in California for the last few years, so it was great to have a chance to spend some quality time with them again here on the east coast again! Evan and Lucas didn't exactly play together, but I think that Lucas was relieved that he wasn't left to be bullied and dolled up by the girls all by himself!
The semi-treacherous roads and multiple feet of snow still on the ground kept us from venturing out anywhere too far from home, but we had a great time just sticking close to home. The adults enjoyed tons of time hanging out and catching up, and also of course joined the kids in dance parties, sledding excursions, Board games and other competitions (including Elise's personal favorite game - Who Can Stay in Their Seat the Longest? - played at dinner time) and the kids had a blast together as well. We loved the addition of the Thomas clan to our President's Day Weekend Tradition and hope we will all be able to get together again next year!

We have a few more visits and visitors planned for March, so hopefully the snow will cooperate and leave us alone!
